ALmoST END
Due to moving to bare houses, no one had internet or the time to post this when we got back. It was however written in the van. We're back in Montreal now, and boy, does it ever feel _ _ _ _ to be back.
I think where I last left off was in Saskatoon. We're much past that now, on our way to Ottawa, heading down the 401.
I wasn't feeling funny last night at the show, and I still don't think I am now, floss the teeth and put on a smile.
The trees here look like we're on our way through Jurassic Park. Quite a beautiful drive, especially being from Alberta. Everything is very rolling.
We slid into Winnipeg to play at Lo Pub, a joint that is considered 'the place to be for a beer and some tunes'. Very wooden pub, with decorative markings that suggested maybe a Swede owned it. The Absent Sound opened, with some very scree---- we just passed a rode called cobble dick--- ching guitars and large swells. The lead singer looked that he could have been a sailor playing for his complementary pint of beer. Knots as usual played a beautiful set, extremely emotive that night. We played, I feel, one of our best sets on the tour, it was just such a wonderful atmosphere, the people in Winnipeg listened, they moved their body- NO ARM CROSSES, THANK GOD, no floor sitters from tired legs and excitin lives, laughed at really bad jokes, it was just a very enjoyable time. We got our first encore of the tour, and I celebrated by getting drunk in the lobby until 3 am. May I add that before going on this tour I learned that I am allergic to beer, this means that when the band gets their drink tickets for shitty beer I tell them my story about being allergic to beer and i get a rum and coke or gin and tonic, i don't mind it one bit. anyways, life isn't about drinking and smoking, it's about everything but! PERFECT NEGLECT! We made our way back to the hostel, a room with 3 bunk beds. WAKE UP, BRUSH TEETH, EAT TIM HORTONS, DRIVE TO THUNDER BAY, 9 HOURS LATER THUNDER BAY. We were greeted with a table top of 3 different french fries, hot wings and sweet wings, fried fish cubes, checkered napkins, red baskets, red cups with water and white straws and six audience heads. If you think about it, when touring across Canada you have to go from Winnipeg to Toronto, that's the next stop, and that in itself is a 24 hour drive, so of course one must stop in either Thunder Bay or Sudbury, or both. The Apollo, where we played in Thunder Bay, has a touring band every night, especially during Summer, so these kids are getting a band every night, hence the six audience heads. It was still a really nice show though. Two really beautiful girls who were both 18 were there early, and stayed till most people had left. The opening band, Pedestrian Lifestyle were SO CUTE, I think it was one of their first shows, parents filling the booths, dads with video camera, photographer flashing from the local newspaper. The second band, Casanova Frankenstein could have said fuck off to everyone and it wouldn't have been much different. It was their last show in Thunder Bay, moving away, maybe they're heading off to Vancouver to salute punk.
We stayed up top the Apollo with our own rooms, mine overlooking a piecing saloon, I had a great sleep and so did the others.
We drove the next day for 14 hours. The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath is one of the saddest novels. Ontario has great post cards. Canadians exploit Native American crafts at every gas stop.
We took a fairy from South Baymouth at 10 pm over to Sauble Beach. While on the fairy we gazed at some stars, and figured out how to expose our faces on to the bum of our pants by using long exposure times. They are posted above. Taylor's grandparents live at Sauble beach. We woke to a beautiful breakfast prepared by his Graggy and then we walked down the road over a hill and to our surprise a divine, white sand beach, with water as far as you can see. We ran into the water with Taylor's cousins, while he stayed and looked good on the beach (he came in later). Hey, is this blog entry too long? I bet it is. Deep breath----
SO WE SWAM AND THEN WE DROVE AND THEN WE ARRIVED IN TORONTO AND NOT MANY PEOPLE CAME TO OUR SHOW AND WE PLAYED A PRETTY BAD SHOW BECAUSE WE HAD BUILT UP A LOT OF EXPECTATION OVER IT AND THINGS FELT HOLLOW THAT NIGHT, BEST SOUND THOUGH, THANK YOU NOAH, THE PHENOMES WERE GREAT I GOT HEAD SHIVS, AND THEN WE STAYED IN THIS ROOM THAT WAS CALLED THE ARTIST IN RESIDENCE SUIT (A.I.R, -- CLEVER) AND IT LOOKED LIKE THE ROOM OF A TORONTO KID WITH A LEATHER JACKET WHO KEPT SOME COKE IN HIS INSIDE POCKED WOULD SLEEP IN, BUT THE BEDS WERE COMFORTABLE SO WE SLEPT AND NOW WERE OFF TO ELSE WHERE, THAT BEING OTTAWA.
I met a woman who told me my birthday and the dates of the end of the world, and I kind of believe her because she told me my birthday.

DAY TU
EXPLICIT MATERIAL BELOW- READ WITH CAUTION
Dear Diary,
Last night I saw a girl get her throat cut and her heart pulled out of her chest. The music just kept pumping and the band played on happily. I took a walk and saw the House of Braids. There were a few people at the show and one of them danced in the lobby. The girl with the cut throat starred in a movie. We ate at Olympia and the kind waitress was very concerned for our well-being. The night was humid and you could see lightning on the horizon a long ways away, too far to hear. We slept over with Feral Children, who gave us five CDs, one that caught the glare of the sun this morning as we started driving through to Winnipeg.
Signed,
Crotchety stiff legs. (A.K.A Knots)
---------------------------------
Apparently I am to not censor Knots in his writing.... I really don't like the part about the cut throat girl though, so rather then making him take it out, i'll just point out that it makes my parts feel funny. Which parts he asks? The parts that matter.
Last night we arrived in Saskatoon at this-must-be-gothic-venue-because-of-the-all-black-walls-and-cement-rooms-and-unfinished-cellar-stairs-leading-to-the-basement, whatever. But to top it off they had playing this TERRIBLE MOVIE which i believe had paris hilton with googly eyes and black hair, anyways, as I'm watching a very stunning solo act, these hands, whom is singing 'so you wrote it in a book' i look to my right a little, apparently i just had to look to the right, and there is this movie depicting a woman having her throat you know, and then her heart, you know, and then i walked with neal to go and eat some meat, so you know, it was just..... ironic, and irony contributes to one feeling especially strange, especially when under slept. Apparently there were some deer just now. So far no hits.
We went back to our friends apartment and had the floors to ourselves. He offered me some pot, said he'd found a bag of it so if anyone could have some if they wanted. I asked him, 'well is it clean?' and he said 'well it made me feel pretty crazy, but i think I was just paranoid.' I didn't have some but it was a nice offer. I love people.
I was a stoner for a good four months in high school, time seemed to fly by fast, time already flies by fast so I stopped doing it. People must laugh at a good four months. Whatever. We'd go up onto this hill that was out behind the school, filled with trees. It was the hill of an elementary school, I always felt bad about that. They were a new group of friends I was trying to fit in with. They'd sit in a circle all cross legged, very bohemian like, a word I later used to describe them from stores like H+M and Urban Outfit, pertaining to the Alternative Artist in ALL OF US. I thought it was great. I had to cary visine around, I got to have some sort of fruit with creme perfume sprayed over me before class. I was even getting 80's in math for the first time. I guess that one begins reminiscing when sitting in a van for 9 hours.
Well back to what is happening, we woke this morning at 7:30 am to meet our 8:30 departure so that we can arrive for our 7:00pm soundcheck and our 11:30 performance. It all numbers from here. Maybe I should start smoking pot again.
Yours truly,
indiensoci
ps. Feral Children is awesome and one should go see him if they ever get the chance.

REAL BLOG
We are on the road through Saskatchewan trying to get to our show in time, but not really rushing, we stopped and ate bread and tomato. We forgot about the time difference. Is there even a time difference??????
Last night we were in Edmonton at a 'venue' called Castle Awesome I say
venue' because it's a house that almost 200 people come to whenever shows are hosted. There were 150 people in this basement that would feel crowded with 30 people. I looked down and my legs were dripping with sweat- I don't usually sweat... and my legs were sweating..... THE HOUSE WAS SWEATING! THE WALLS HAD BEADS, THE PAINT WAS COMING OFF THE FLOORS! THE BOY IN FRONT OF ME WAS WEARING A HOODY, HE WAS INTO DARK THINGS, HE WAS SWEATING, A GIRL IN AN ORANGE DRESS GLOWED, SHE WAS SWEATING SEXY, DO YOU KNOW HOW SWEATY THAT IS! DO YOU!?
Gobble Gobble was up next. I never know what to do when they play... always get stiff legged, I LIKE IT THOUGH, Katie freaked out about it, she had some insightful things to say about the show... here is a question and answer between katie and I about the show:
Raphie: So katie, what did you REALLY think about the show last night?
Katie: Well Raphie, I thought it was fucking great.
R: Were there any bent kneecaps kind of like when a giraffe sits down and you knotice that its knees are bending backwards?
K: There were definitely some bent kneecaps and bent bodies but most bent of all was my mind.
R: Oooh. GIGGLE GIGGLE
K: Thats it. GIGGLE GIGGLE.
GOBBLE GOBBLE
Thank you for typing that Knots.
So I guess everyone thinks it's really funny that Braids is touring with Knots. YEAH? Well I think you're pretty clever. HOPE YOU FOUND A GREEN LEAF CLOVER TO KEEP YOU GOOD LUCK BECAUSE I TOLD MY PEOPLE ABOUT YOU.
Last night Knots was involved in a Braids sandwich.
Our friend let us stay with him last night in his cool downtown apartment, he said, "Raph, You should stay at my house, we'll have waffles in the morning."
I thought it was very cute when he woke up really hung over and then austin said "who wants egos!", I mean, "who wants eggos?" I liked the morning.

TACKIEST DONUT
Eating the tackiest of donuts right now Vanille et fraise-- it was the one that I could pronounce the best in french so I asked for it... there is Vanilla icing and bonbon sprinkles and this terrible strawberry filling... it tastes like I'm back at Chucky Cheese's rolling around in the ball pin, hair standing up to touch the tunnels, kid pee at the end of the slide.
Things are really on the go right now, every day is moving by quickly and I find myself staying up late to try and extend the day... bags under the eyes are darkening, blisters are forming where fingers meet the pencil, 3 coffees in a day... but who never romanticed this way of living.... calvin klien sure didn't, jack kerouac sure didn't. Anyways... WHATEVER... things are on the move, things are getting done, things are feeling good.
SO ORIGINALLY I JUST WANTED TO GIVE YOU SOME LYRICS FOR A NEW SONG BUT THEN I STARTED TALKING ABOUT THE DONUT AND ALL SO HERE ARE SOME LYRICS TO A NEW SONG WE JUST WROTE! THIS SONG WAS WRITTEN FOR JORDAN HOSSACK FROM AZEDA BOOTH, OR AT LEAST THE LYRICS ARE, AND KATIE LEE OF BRAIDS, MY SISTER.
SAME MUM
My sister came from the water
stroked over
my dead body
I don't tell anyone
in case they all leave
What's a dry mouth anyhow
when it all means nothing?
I'd like to love her
and take care of her
When I'm better
Maybe
Take care of her soft head
damp skull, sticky hands, four legs, wet mound, eye boat, heat stroke, look at how our hearts choked
She'll be there with me
maybe seeing guilt free
hitting off the acid
on the moons route to a pink dream
ME AND MY SISTER
SHE DON'T EVEN KNOW
THAT WHEN I WAS BORN
I HAD THE SAME EYES AS MUM
AND THEY JUST GLOWED
I've been dreaming about this light when I-m-a sleepin
I've been thinking about the lives that i-t-s-a keepin
I don't know where we go when we're older
I just know that underground is where the souls don't go
WE ARE FROM THE SAME MUM
